My name is Samantha and I am 28 years old. I have been attending the Alpha Family Center since May 2010. Prior to that, it took me 4 ½ years to conceive. My husband and I had tried it all; fertility doctors, adoption steps and simply waiting. Eventually, we were blessed and I conceived a child. Since then, I have attended the Earn-While-You-Learn program at Alpha Family Center. I have learned so much including how to take care of a child, how to be a good parent, how to keep yourself and the baby healthy, and how to communicate with your child. I thought I knew everything on how to be a parent because of working at a daycare center and having three nephews, but the reality was I didn’t. The videos that I have watched have helped me to understand how to be the parent that my husband and I need to be.
I actually heard about the Alpha Family Center through a friend. Not only do the videos and worksheets help, but the volunteer advocates are just as helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, you can talk with them and they will help you understand. I have met with the same volunteer since the beginning. It has been awesome to get to know someone and discuss various problems. There is a sense of trust and friendship - basically it’s like talking to a friend at Alpha. I hope everyone takes the opportunity to takes these classes like I have because you really do learn so much, even if you are older and married. I want to thank you for supporting Alpha Family Center and allowing them to help families like mine.
